COE-Sr. Industrial DC Service Engineer-Charlotte, NC – Vertiv Responsibilities

Perform complex troubleshooting, specialized tests, inspections, and appraisals on electrical apparatus and electrical systems. Test and troubleshoot complex electrical systems, UPS/Battery systems, and power metering. Lead large projects requiring specialized skills such as UPS acceptance tests, commissioning of larger DC systems, supervising turnkey projects, detailed power surveys, and other types of electrical consultation. Develop tests and inspections in new areas of field services. Troubleshoot using AC/DC load-banks and power quality recording instrumentation; test/troubleshoot equipment associated with UPS, Charger, and Battery testing. Perform installation and start-up services on all UPS and DC/Battery Systems. May perform and/or supervise a full range of complex engineering studies. Write complete, detailed reports promptly at end of project and accurately process job billing. May perform complex analysis and evaluative tasks for equipment labeling projects in line with industry and international standards and local requirements. Additional Responsibilities

Perform sales support functions and maintain strong client relationships. Prepare written job proposals for clients, including estimates of man-hours and expenses, scope, and pricing. Engage in client interface and business development activities. Provide effective technical presentations; writing publishable articles may be required. Mentor other Field Service Engineer positions; train and assist regional engineers. Qualifications

Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME with six years of experience; or Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent with nine years of similar work experience; or High school education or equivalent with ten years of similar experience. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and standards such as OSHA and NFPA. Special skills in: power quality surveys, generation/start-up, ANSI/NEC/NEMA/U.L. specifications; pilot wire and distance relaying; computer power system transient surveys; UPS systems; drive systems; complex control systems; medium/high voltage substation start-up; vibration analysis. Experience with switchgear and equipment testing up to 500 kV class. Strong theoretical understanding of electrical power systems and ability to evaluate problems. Ability to complete projects on budget; strong communication, supervisory, organizational, and management skills. Effective written and verbal communication with clients, peers, and management. Good judgment, dependable, capable of managing large-scale projects with technical and business acumen. Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word (editing/formatting/templates), internet research, and operation of test equipment. Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work; available for out-of-town and international travel for extended periods. Job Details
