The Multi-Asset Index Management team oversees a diverse portfolio of high-profile indices encompassing equities, fixed income, commodities derivatives, and digital wealth. Impact:
As an Index Manager, you will be responsible for managing a broad range of indices. Your role will involve working closely with key stakeholders (Product Management, R&D, Technology, Governance and Operations) to ensure the day-to-day accuracy of indices under your management. This role is part of the Multi-Asset team which manages a wide array of indices. While this role will have a focus on Wealth Benchmarks, flexibility and more generalized work across the team’s offering will be required. Collaborate with a wide array of indices across global markets, analyzing and implementing complex index methodologies while addressing non-routine problems on an ongoing basis. Take charge of all aspects of an assigned group of indices, providing recommendations for index calculations and presenting changes to the index committee. Engage in global projects with high visibility, taking a leadership role in a dynamic and fast-growing area of index management. Responsibilities:
The Index Manager will develop into a subject matter expert and serve as a backup for the team leader. Key responsibilities include: Preparing and calculating S&P and Dow Jones branded indices, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of real-time and end-of-day index data to clients and end users. Conducting analytical research to determine the composition of assigned indices, interpreting complex index methodologies, and adjusting data in our calculation system to align with index rules. Executing index rebalances by interpreting index methodologies, conducting models and research for adds/drops, implementing changes, and effectively communicating these to clients with a focus on quality and accuracy. Participating in index committees and presenting original, non-routine analyses to support the indices under your management. Taking ownership of high-profile indices, demonstrating industry expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product lines. Managing and nurturing key relationships with other groups within the department and across various departments, particularly Product Management, Client Coverage, Index Services, and IT Support. Collaborating closely with the technology and production support teams to enhance our system capabilities. Managing multiple projects and deadlines, involving requirements gathering, analytical thinking, data compilation, and documentation. Demonstrating adaptability to new technologies and platforms. Training new and current employees on best practices for index management. Compensation/Benefits Information:
(This section is only applicable to US candidates) Base salary range: approximately $83,313 to $104,560. Final base salary will be based on geographic location, experience, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits. What We’re Looking For: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. 2-4 years of relevant experience. Understanding of global financial markets. Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction or supervision. Experience working with large data sets using Excel or SQL. Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner. Proficient in Excel, Word, and related applications. Strong programming skills, preferably in Python or similar languages such as VBA or R. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in business, mathematics, economics, or finance strongly preferred. Proven ability to assume responsibility, collaborate with others, and manage projects effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate work among multiple teams or groups. Experience with futures and/or options. Strong understanding of indices, including the impact of different methodologies and the construction of non-equity indices. Ability to learn S&P’s proprietary index calculation engines. Familiarity with vendor terminals and data analytical platforms.
