Finance Analyst

to join the Finance department. The Finance Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and related financial systems. The Finance Analyst is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing general ledger activities, and preparing reconciliations. Location & Schedule:

This position is Full-Time and in Office in Sacramento, CA. The Agency operates on a 9-8-80 work schedule with every other Friday off for work-life balance. Why Join SHRA?

Essential Areas of Responsibility

Primary Purpose Of Position The Finance Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and related financial systems. This position combines strong accounting knowledge with advanced analytical skills to deliver high-level financial insights that support strategic decision-making. The Analyst is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing general ledger activities, and preparing reconciliations. This role is essential to month-end and year-end close processes by collaborating with other Finance staff to provide reliable financial data that supports forecasting, reporting, and strategic decision-making. Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with governmental accounting standards and Agency policies. Assist with Single Audit and Financial Statement Audit preparation, including compiling supporting documentation, reconciling grant-related transactions, and responding to auditor requests. Monitor financial transactions to ensure proper coding, classification, and compliance with internal policies and GAAP. Support the Agency’s budget development, mid-year adjustments, and monitoring processes. Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities by reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Research and resolve complex discrepancies in financial records by tracing transactions through multiple systems and sources. Contribute to process improvements in financial analysis, reporting, and reconciliation practices to strengthen organizational efficiency and accountability. Respond to ad hoc requests for financial data and analysis.

Education & Experience

Required Any combination of experience and education that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities could be qualifying. A typical pathway: Experience

2 - 3 years experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting; government or nonprofit experience strongly preferred Education

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Advanced degree or certification (CPA, CMA, CGFM, CFA) preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with enterprise financial systems and data visualization tools is highly desirable. Familiarity with GASB and/or FASB standards preferred. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
