Construction Project Engineer – Commercial Construction Location: South Orange County, CA Full-Time | On-Site / In Office Company Overview
Join one of South Orange County’s leading commercial general contractors, known for delivering high-quality projects across healthcare, office and retail developments. Our client is a dynamic company with a strong reputation for integrity, craftsmanship, and collaboration. Their projects range from ground-up developments to complex tenant improvement... and they\'re growing! They\'re currently seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support the Project Managers and Superintendents in delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget. Position Summary
As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in the planning and execution of commercial construction projects. You\'ll work closely with the project management team, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure seamless communication, quality control, and documentation throughout the construction lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with RFI, submittal, and change order processes Maintain and organize project documentation including plans, specifications, meeting minutes, and logs Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and compliance Track and update project schedules and budgets Support the preparation of project closeout documentation Conduct field walks with superintendents and assist with quality control and safety compliance Facilitate communication between field and office teams to resolve issues promptly Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction (internships or co-ops considered) Proficiency in construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications
Experience in ground-up commercial builds and tenant improvements Familiarity with South Orange County building codes and permitting processes OSHA 10/30 certification What They Offer
