Emergency Medical Responder Trainee role at Acadian Air Med — Thibodaux, LA. Non-Exempt, Full-time. Responsibilities / Program Details
Participate in an accelerated Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) training program: 10 days, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Attend class as a full-time Acadian Ambulance Service employee; class tuition, books, and fees are paid by Acadian Ambulance in exchange for a commitment to work as an EMR for Acadian for 1 year after completing the class and passing the certification exam. During training, be paid as a Trainee at $11/hr with full-time benefits; if the class is not completed, employment ends. Upgrade to EMR after successful course completion with pay increasing to $13.50/hr; overtime available. Maintain eligibility: successful results on drug screen, background & motor vehicle check, and a physical lift test; obtain a Louisiana class D chauffeur’s license to work as an EMR. Course funds may be recovered if the trainee does not complete the class. Advancement opportunities include EMT, Paramedic (with tuition assistance), Air Med, EMS educator, EMS leadership, or remote paramedicine within Acadian Ambulance. This accelerated curriculum will be conducted Monday – Friday from 8a – 5p. The training lasts approximately 10 days. Location is TBD. Selected applicants will be considered full-time Acadian Ambulance Service employees during training. Employment as a trainee is contingent upon successful drug screen, background check, motor vehicle check, and physical lift test. As a Trainee, you will be a full-time employee with benefits. After completing the class, you may advance to EMR with increased pay and overtime opportunities. Eligible candidates may pursue further advancement opportunities within Acadian Ambulance.
