Overview
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking an Executive Director of Physician Relations to lead physician outreach and referral development. This executive-level role reports to the Chancellor and aims to drive revenue growth by strengthening relationships with community physicians, specialty practices, and clinics. The role focuses on increasing referral volumes, driving business development, and ensuring seamless care coordination across the provider network.
Responsibilities
Strategic Outreach & Relationship Building: Build and maintain partnerships with community physicians, practice managers, and healthcare providers to increase referral volumes; represent UAMS in clinics, medical groups, and physician offices; identify new referral opportunities and strengthen pipelines.
Business Development & Growth: Develop and execute outreach strategies to drive referral growth in targeted specialties; collaborate with hospital leadership, service line directors, and marketing to align outreach with growth priorities; monitor referral patterns and expand market share.
Clinical Knowledge & Communication: Stay informed on UAMS programs and services to communicate offerings to external providers; educate physicians on clinical pathways, patient access processes, and service differentiators; serve as a resource to ensure high-quality, timely care.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hospital leadership, physician leadership, and operations to resolve barriers to referrals and improve provider satisfaction; provide feedback to leadership for service enhancements.
Reporting & Accountability: Track outreach activities and referral growth through CRM or designated systems; deliver updates and growth metrics to senior leadership; ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, marketing, or a related field; seven or more years in physician relations, business development, or healthcare leadership, with a proven track record of driving referral growth and building provider networks. Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of hospital operations, clinical services, and physician practice dynamics; exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills; ability to travel frequently to community practices and healthcare organizations.
