Job Description
The Part Time Packaging Utility position is responsible for constructing boxes and packing them full of products you already know and love. You will be working on the manufacturing floor in a loud environment, near heavy machinery, with temperature variations. The position is fully part‑time, 24‑32 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Construct boxes and pack them with Frito‑Lay products, either manually or with the help of automated machines.
- Run, fill, and changeover automated box‑forming machines.
- Maintain a consistent supply of the correct cartons to each of the production lines.
- Sort and remove any and all bad cartons; recycle all materials in appropriate locations.
- Perform frequent quality checks—ensuring labels, boxes, code dates, and seals are correct.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area (safety is everyone's job).
- Clean and sanitize lines during changeovers from one product to another.
- Set up lines during a changeover process (e.g., switch from making Cool Ranch Doritos to Nacho Cheese Doritos). Place stickers, wipe down machines, and make minor adjustments.
- Push waste totes from the production area to a compactor, secure them with a latch, and roll them back to the production floor.
- Rework products that do not meet quality standards.
- Review the production schedule daily to plan for your shift.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Use a manual or electric hand jack where required.
- Stand for many hours, move arms and torso repetitively, and stay on the line until relieved for your break.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off‑shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, stretch, and lift repeatedly for extended periods (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Regularly wear a hairnet, safety glasses, bump cap, and steel‑toed shoes.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is not required.
