Overview
City of East Palo Alto is seeking a Police Officer for a lateral or academy graduate position. The role involves patrol, crime prevention, traffic control, and community policing.
Responsibilities • Patrol a wide area, preventing crime and protecting life and property. • Enforce federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. • Prepare cases and testify in court. • Provide public assistance and conduct specialized administrative or investigative work as assigned. • Perform community policing strategies to reduce juvenile crime and delinquency.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid California Driver's License with satisfactory driving record.
Valid Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy Graduate Basic certificate.
Valid CPR certificate within six months of appointment.
Successful completion of all pre‑employment testing phases.
Compensation Base salary: $105,170–$138,925 annually ($8,764–$11,577 monthly).
Bonus Package:
$30,000 in one‑time lump sum payments (new hire, probationary period, and 36 months of service).
Benefits package:
comprehensive health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement (CalPERS), 12‑hour shifts, tuition reimbursement, uniform allowance, and more.
Schedule 12‑hour shifts on a patrol schedule. Work includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Selection Process Background evaluation, oral panel interview, practical exercise, standard police background investigation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, physical exam with drug screening.
