Dewberry
Dewberry is seeking a Senior Rail Project Engineer to join its national Transportation Service Line and contribute to the growth of its Transit and Freight Rail Practice. Candidates should hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering and possess a minimum of 10 years of civil and rail design experience, familiarity with AREMA track design standards, and knowledge of signal systems, OCS, and traction power requirements. Prior experience working with local transportation agencies such as MTA, LIRR, Metro North, NJ Transit, MBTA, Amtrak and freight railroads is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Apply broad knowledge of railroad principles and practices to support design teams and junior engineers.
Provide a resource of railroad operations and maintenance practices to design teams.
Work on small projects or portions of larger projects.
Support preparation of written plans and reports, and provide overall QC review of contract documents for compliance with AREMA, FTA, FRA requirements.
Required Skills & Required Experience
BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field; PE license required.
10 years of experience with a strong technical background in track design and maintenance.
Competence in preparing rail and rail‑related civil designs, including development of horizontal and vertical alignments. Understanding of rail outage impacts and maintenance requirements for track and rail bridge structures.
Experience in transportation engineering, including inspection and/or design for freight rail or passenger transit facilities.
Experience in the following technical areas: Vertical and horizontal rail alignments
AutoCAD and MicroStation
Grade crossings
Grading/drainage design
Rail facilities design
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Local agency experience highly preferred.
Willingness to engage in business development activities to meet growth objectives.
Strong leadership talents and demonstrated success supervising people.

Salary Range The projected range for this position is $140,350 to $185,850 annually. Depending on skill, experience, location and market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NJ only.
