Contraline is a medical device company based in Charlottesville, Virginia. We are developing the first long-lasting, non-hormonal, and reversible male contraceptive. Our mission is to improve the reproductive health of patients worldwide by commercializing state-of-the-art medical products.
The Scientist I/II will be a key member of the Research & Development team, reporting to the Director of Research.
What you'll do
Design and execute laboratory experiments in collaboration with R&D, following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Develop project plans, protocols, amendments, quantitative analyses, and reports in compliance with Contraline’s Quality System.
Design test methodologies and fabricate tools for device and prototype testing.
Support formulation development within cross-functional teams.
Conduct chemical and materials characterization, analyze data, and generate reports.
Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot scientific equipment.
Prepare data and reports for meetings, publications, patents, and regulatory submissions.
Assist with laboratory management, including inventory, safety compliance, and logistics.
Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to maintain a secure research environment.
What you'll need
BS in chemistry, biochemistry, materials science, or related field. Scientist I: 2-3 years of relevant industry experience or master’s degree Scientist II: 3-5 years of relevant industry experience or 2-3 years with a master’s degree Experience in developing medical devices is highly encouraged Experience in polymer chemistry is desired, but not required Applicants should have a high level of interest in learning and contributing to product development and translational research Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills Creative, flexible, and independent thinking Works well in small, cross-functional teams and start up environment (team-player)
