The Hazardous Waste Management Program serving King County, Washington, seeks an experienced Administrative Specialist III to support its mission of making the Puget Sound region the cleanest in the country—free of hazardous chemical exposure. About the Role:
The Administrative Specialist III supports the HWMP in operations, performance, racial equity, planning, policy, finance, and communication. Key responsibilities include accounting, records and inventory management, document preparation, recruitment support, travel and expense processing, and business support. The position performs work remotely and onsite.

HWMP is a regional coalition of governments protecting public health and the environment, serving King County’s 2.3 million residents and 70,000 businesses with a $21 million annual budget and approximately 70 staff. What You Will Be Doing: Support administrative processes such as records management, document development, invoice processing, purchasing, inventory, travel, and training plans, applying county policies. Assist in preparing for meetings—scheduling, coordination, communication, material prep, catering, and minute-taking. Support hiring processes, onboarding, and training of new staff. Manage hazardous waste records, support public disclosure requests, and maintain files in SharePoint. Oversee inventories of devices, assets, vehicles, and supplies, including purchasing. Assist staff with meetings, events, supplies, and training registration. Qualifications: At least five years of office experience supporting administrative functions in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat; experience with Oracle financials. Experience with records research, calendar management, and meeting preparation. Excellent written communication, organization, and adaptability skills. Additional Competencies: Organizational savvy, planning, trust-building, tech savviness, and interpersonal skills. Preferred: Experience with King County administrative systems, travel software, cultural competence, and a valid driver’s license. Work Conditions: Remote work with onsite requirements about 2 days/month at various county sites. Must reside in Washington State within reasonable distance of worksites.
