Overview The Office of the Attorney General represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts. This Law Enforcement Lieutenant position is within the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in Miami, Florida. The incumbent is a state‑certified law enforcement officer required to bear firearms and maintain certification under Florida Statutes.

Qualifications

Florida active certification as a sworn law enforcement officer.

Three (3) years of sworn law enforcement supervisory work experience.

Florida Statute 943.13 compliance: at least 19 years of age, U.S. citizenship, high school graduate or equivalent, no felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement, passing biometric fingerprint processing, passing a physical examination, good moral character, completion of basic recruit training, and officer certification examination.

Preference for candidates with healthcare fraud investigative experience in a Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, five (5) years of sworn law enforcement experience, or five (5) years of healthcare fraud investigation work.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine and complex investigations of possible Medicaid fraud and patient abuse, including interviews, subpoenas, search warrants, arrests, evidence collection, and report preparation for civil, administrative, or criminal proceedings.

Supervise and develop investigative strategies for sworn and non‑sworn investigators, evaluate progress, and oversee on‑going investigations.

Review investigation reports for accuracy, assist with warrants and grand jury presentments.

Assist regional leaders with operational and administrative functions, including filing for prosecutions and providing courtroom testimony.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
