About the Role

The Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) of the University of South Florida (USF) is conducting a national search for a distinguished academic clinical leader to serve as Division Chief & Director of Digestive Diseases & Nutrition within the Department of Internal Medicine. The division encompasses all subspecialties of gastroenterology and is ranked #15 in the nation for patient care. Responsibilities

Lead coordination of operations and outcomes of all clinical activities of Digestive Diseases & Nutrition faculty and staff at USF and Tampa General Hospital locations. Improve patient access, referring physician satisfaction, quality and safety, and value‑based care through hospital throughput and screening programs. Co‑lead the TGH GI & GI Surgery Service Line and partner with administrative leadership to enhance national reputation and expand services across sites. Advance the division’s academic culture by launching a clinical research portfolio, expanding clinical trials, and engaging faculty in scholarly work. Mentor faculty at affiliate sites (VA, Moffitt) in research, publication, promotion, and fellowship education; strengthen a competitive fellowship program. Qualifications

Medical degree from an accredited institution or highest degree appropriate in the field with a record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Board‑certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent; maintain credentials in USF Health faculty practice plan and be a medical staff member in good standing at assigned hospitals. Meet university criteria for appointment to rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor; for Associate/Full Professor, produce creative work, professional writing or research in refereed journals, and be a recognized authority in the field.
