Job Description

AECOM is seeking a

Project Manager Lead

for our growing Renewable Department within the US Energy Practice. AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices across the United States. Our team provides a wide range of services across market sectors including transmission, renewable generation (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), power distribution, next‑generation energy, and advanced nuclear. We seek a project professional able to manage the design process from the project basis of design stage through the issuance of deliverables, ensuring seamless coordination between internal and external stakeholders.

This position requires a strong understanding of engineering design, interconnection, utility markets, and construction processes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to lead matrixed design teams and manage client‑approved engineering consultants.

Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor a team of project managers through individual and team development for greater utility to the organization and overall career satisfaction.

Lead improvements in project efficiencies by creating, updating, and implementing group specific standards and templates.

Responsible for team’s forecast management and tracking.

Proposal support and capture leadership to support business development activities.

Identify project opportunities early and facilitate go/no‑go decisions, determine project fees, write proposals, prepare and lead client presentations, and negotiate contracts.

Actively support recruiting efforts.

Support projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, issue‑for‑bid, construction, start‑up, and commissioning.

Responsible for the management of assigned projects; function as the project manager or program manager.

Take ownership of internal project financials, staffing, legal coordination, and risk management.

Facilitate planning and kickoff meetings to ensure alignment among all project stakeholders.

Oversee the design process, including conducting “page‑turn design reviews” and equipment fabrication reviews at key project milestones (30%, 60%, and 100% design completion).

Work closely with the technical delivery team (including subcontractors) to confirm deliverables and services are being provided to exceed client satisfaction.

Deliver projects in accordance with the AECOM QMS process.

Qualifications

BS/BA degree +8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Project Management experience directly related to renewable engineering projects.

Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects and/or programs with high quality on schedule and within scope and budget.

Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) preferred.

+15 Years of relevant experience, including project management, program management, engineering of renewables.

Experience in managing projects worked in collaborative model environments (e.g., Navisworks).

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage diverse teams and stakeholders.

Proven ability to manage large‑scale, complex projects in a fast‑paced environment.

Experience with facilitating design reviews and equipment fabrication reviews.

Demonstrated success working in a remote team environment.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $160,000.00 - $205,000.00.
