Job Summary The laboratory associate supports procedural and therapeutic services. The role assists with bedside collection of fine needle aspiration biopsy specimens (FNA) and prepares glass slides from cytologic specimens for microscopic evaluation using a variety of techniques (direct smear, thin‐layer, cytospin, cell block). The associate performs multiple staining techniques, operates and maintains laboratory equipment, confirms patient data at specimen receiving, and inputs data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Responsibilities

Perform moderate and high complexity testing under general supervision of the Laboratory Manager.

Execute routine laboratory testing, quality control testing, general instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation.

Call critical and questionable results to appropriate providers and document results using LIS.

Communicate technical information to appropriate personnel and assist in general laboratory troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related life science with 24 semester hours of science courses (6 chemistry, 6 biology, 12 combined).

None required experience; willingness to learn and follow laboratory protocols.

Employment Details Regular employee, full-time, 40 hours per week, hourly pay, Health‑23 pay grade, scheduled shift: full‑time.
