Base pay range: $70,400.00/yr - $111,930.00/yr
What You Will Do
Primary liaison between PHC’s Patient Services department, billing staff, clinicians, clinics, and outsourced billing team to ensure an effective and efficient revenue cycle.
Identify negative revenue cycle trends, perform root‑cause analysis, and develop resolution plans collaboratively with billing team, health IT team, vendors, and Patient Services Director.
Develop and track agreed upon revenue cycle metrics and work queues; ensure timely resolution of work queue items.
Evaluate outsourced billing performance and intervene when issues arise to meet goals.
Work with payers and outside entities to resolve recurring denials or slow/non‑payment of claims.
Ensure compliance with billing submission timelines, coding standards, state/federal patient financial service requirements, and PHC policies.
Oversee day‑to‑day billing team functions: claims review, timely submissions, payment posting & collections; provide coaching and performance feedback.
Assist in development of written policies, procedures, and billing manuals related to EMR functionality and provide staff training.
Maintain month‑end activities, audit denials, and keep staff updated on regulatory or carrier rule changes.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in health information or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a healthcare revenue cycle position and 2 years’ supervisory experience.
Experience with financial systems and electronic medical/dental records.
Proven ability to develop, analyze, implement and monitor productivity and quality‑improvement strategies.
Strong communication skills and ability to coach and foster a high‑performing team.
Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office and other database programs.
Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy; excellent written and verbal communication.
Organizational, prioritization and time‑management skills; ability to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in health information or related field.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in a healthcare revenue cycle position.
Professional coding certification.
Bilingual, verbal and written language proficiency.
Community Health Center experience.
Inpatient billing experience preferred.
