Accountant 3 – Juneau, AK The Department of Family and Community Services, Division of Departmental Support Services, is recruiting for a full‑time Accountant 3 in Juneau, AK. This position is open to Alaska residents.

What You Will Be Doing This position provides financial support to the department such as providing expert accounting assistance regarding fiscal processes, policies and procedures for department managers and staff.

The Working Environment You Can Expect The offices are in downtown Juneau, close to shopping, dining, hiking trails, and the waterfront. You will work in the Court Plaza Building with large windows offering views of Mount Juneau or the water.

Who We Are Looking For

Accounting : Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and cost methods.

Financial Systems : Knowledge of the standards, architecture, and specifications of automated financial systems, including source documents, system flows, interfaces, and related internal controls.

Essential skills of the successful candidate include communication, collaboration, and the ability to facilitate proactive, ongoing training and development for Fiscal and Revenue staff as well as departmental administrative and management staff.

Minimum Qualifications The minimum qualifications for the award of a position include education, experience and training required to satisfy the Minimum Qualifications for this position. Competency based minimum qualifications are required for determination of applicant eligibility.

Analysis and Assessment : Uses IT to collect, analyze, and disseminate data.

Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving : Applies logical, systematic approaches to address problems.

Oral and Written Communication : Communicates effectively with various audiences.

Principles of Accounting : Knowledge of GAAP, accounting cycle, worksheets, financial statements, ledgers, journals.

Technical Competence : Applies specialized knowledge and advises others on technical issues.

Equivalent to those typically gained by preparatory post‑secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in accounting, budgeting or financial management.
