The Innovation, Discovery, Exploration, and Analysis (IDEA) Center supports undergraduates, faculty, and departments in expanding research opportunities for undergraduate students across the university. The center coordinates, promotes, and evaluates research-supportive curricula, workshops, training, collaborations, and programs so that undergraduates can complete a faculty-mentored research or creative expression project prior to graduation. The Research Coordinator position provides support services, activities, and programs to enhance the success and retention of the IDEA Center’s undergraduate student researchers/creators by helping undergraduates apply for external funding for research and creative projects and for graduate study. Specifically, the Research Coordinator serves as a fellowship advisor, recruiting and supporting Texas State University undergraduate student applicants for externally funded fellowships, scholarships, and grants. Responsibilities

Identifying students engaged in undergraduate research with the potential to apply for competitive external funding through targeted outreach activities. Conducting workshops, training, and presentations on finding and applying for external funding and promoting external funding services. Providing one-on-one or cohort-based writing feedback to undergraduates during the external funding application process. Supporting the faculty who are mentoring undergraduate students through the external funding application process. Establishing connections with external agencies which fund undergraduate student research and research projects that undergraduates propose to carry out in the course of graduate study. Collaborating with Graduate College external funding coordinators on funding opportunities for graduate study. Cultivating relationships with campus partners and faculty advisors to publicize external funding opportunities and support services. Drafting student success stories and news releases, as well as proactively securing awardee headshots. Maintaining meticulous records of advising and grant support activities and outcomes for annual reporting purposes. Using evaluations and feedback on events to improve them, and to help in planning new events as needed. Assisting with the IDEA Center’s web-based and social media messaging. Assisting students in applying for prestigious fellowships. Participating in relevant professional development opportunities. Required Qualifications

Relevant experience in securing external research funding, student advising/mentoring for fellowship/scholarship applications, or writing center work in higher education. Demonstrable and impeccable proficiency in written academic English. Demonstrated ability to effectively and courteously communicate and coordinate with a wide range of students, faculty, staff, administration, and external funders. Demonstrated experience with public speaking, teaching, and/or making presentations. Experience meeting deadlines by prioritizing workload and remaining mindful of operational and external funding timelines. Preferred Qualifications

Experience assisting students with prestigious fellowships. Ability to accomplish goals and resolve problems in both team and independent environments. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, video conferencing platforms, and Learning Management Systems. Experience creating curriculum for students, commitment to student success, and familiarity with library research databases.
