Accounting SpecialistWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Specialist to join our client’s accounting team. This role is critical in supporting the financial operations of projects, ensuring accurate billing, lifecycle tracking, and timely month-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in project-based accounting and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $29 and $34/hr. depending on experience and education.Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end project billing including setup, invoicing, and reconciliation
• Monitor project budgets, costs, and revenue recognition throughout the project lifecycle
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
• Prepare and post journal entries related to project activities and month-end close
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Assist in preparing financial reports and variance analyses for management review
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and reporting
• Maintain accurate records of contracts, change orders, and billing schedules
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in an engineering or project-based environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP and project accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Experience with project lifecycle management tools
• Familiarity with cost-plus and fixed-price billing models
