Senior Management Auditor Specialist – California Public Utilities Commission
Pay Range
– Base salary $8,265.00 – $10,785.00 (calculated excluding temporary leave program reductions). Effective July 1, 2025. Additional place‑based and performance compensation may apply.
Location
– San Francisco County (Hybrid – on‑site and remote work). Full time, Permanent.
Job Overview The Senior Management Auditor Specialist leads a team of junior auditors performing complex financial, management and compliance audits for public utilities. The incumbent develops audit methodologies, analyzes utility reports and programs, and prepares comprehensive written audit reports that recommend improvements in systems, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize and lead audit engagements and field work for junior auditors.
Conduct in‑depth research on federal and state laws, accounting pronouncements and public utility cost of services.
Develop audit methodologies, plans, and execute examinations of accounts, records and internal controls.
Analyze and synthesize audit evidence, prepare written audit reports, identify problem areas and recommend improvements.
Provide training to audit staff and coordinate multiple audit projects.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve audit objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5–7 years of professional auditing experience, preferably in utility or regulatory audit.
Strong written and verbal communication, analytical skills and independent work capability.
Demonstrated experience leading audit teams and collaborating with stakeholders.
Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) required; provide CDL details in the application.
Valid California Citizenship or eligibility to work in the United States required (proof of eligibility may be requested).

Provide a complete Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) addressing the four required questions. SOQ must be written in 11‑point Arial, single‑spaced, no more than three pages.
Attach a copy of the most recent transcript or diploma. Official transcript required prior to appointment.
Foreign education credential evaluation (if applicable) and U.S. equivalency documentation must be submitted by the application deadline.
