Modern Eye, 145 S 13th St, Philadelphia, PA 19107 Position Summary: The Optician plays a key role in creating an outstanding patient experience at Modern Eye. This position focuses on guiding patients through our unique, curated eyewear collection, ensuring proper optical measurements, and supporting pretesting before eye exams. The ideal candidate combines technical precision with strong personal style and a genuine passion for customer care. Key Responsibilities:Eyewear Selection & Styling: Assist patients in choosing frames and lenses that reflect their prescription needs, personal style, and lifestyle Present Modern Eye’s curated eyewear collections with an emphasis on design, quality, and individuality Educate patients on lens technology, coatings, and frame materials Ensure each patient receives personalized and attentive service from start to finish Optical Technical Duties: Take precise optical measurements for lens fabrication and frame fitting Adjust and repair eyewear to ensure proper comfort and alignment Process optical orders accurately and coordinate with labs for timely completion Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing optical display area Pretesting & Patient Preparation: Perform preliminary vision tests, including auto-refraction, tonometry, and visual field screening Record patient history and update electronic medical records Prepare patients for their exams by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort Sanitize and maintain pretesting equipment in accordance with office protocols Qualifications & Skills: Experience as an optician preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on client experience Strong sense of style and ability to connect eyewear aesthetics with patient preferences Familiarity with pretesting procedures and optometric equipment Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in office software and EHR systems ABO certification preferred but not required Work Conditions: [Full-time/Part-time] position
