Position Application Engineer – CNC Machining & Automation Solutions Summary We are seeking a
skilled and motivated Application Engineer
with a strong background in
CNC machining, automation systems, and process optimization . This role involves full project ownership—from equipment setup and programming to customer training and handover. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in both technical and customer-facing environments, supporting automation projects that combine precision machining with robotic integration. Key Responsibilities Project Management:
Lead CNC machining and automation projects from concept to completion, including tooling, programming, and optimization. Programming:
Create and debug CNC programs using G-code and/or CAM software based on engineering drawings. Installation & Setup:
Oversee equipment installation, alignment, and integration of automated peripherals such as conveyors, bar feeders, and robotic systems. Automation Integration:
Support the configuration of robotic or automated systems for efficient part handling and production flow. Performance Optimization:
Analyze process data to improve efficiency, reduce cycle time, and ensure product quality. Training & Support:
Provide on-site training and technical documentation to operators and customers. Collaboration:
Work closely with internal engineering, service, and project management teams to ensure successful implementation. Travel:
Up to 70–75% travel for installations, customer support, and training. Working Conditions Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Location:
Northern Illinois area (on-site / field-based role) Salary:
$85,000 – $90,000 (Depending on experience) Comprehensive benefits including

and vacation Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience in
CNC machining
or
automation integration
(multi-axis preferred). Experience with
robot-assisted systems
and automated part handling. Proficiency in
G-code programming ,
CAM software
(e.g., Mastercam, Esprit), and
Fanuc or similar controls . Knowledge of
machining principles ,
tooling , and
fixture design . Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Familiarity with
process documentation ,
PPAP/FAI , and
Industry 4.0 concepts
(data collection, IoT integration). Associate or Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field
preferred. Certifications in
robotics or automation systems
