Associate Director, Accessibility Resources Behind the direction of the Associate Vice President of Institutional Accessibility & ADA Coordinator, this position directs coordination of services for students with disabilities at Broward College, complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The role oversees day‑to‑day operations of staff and services provided by Accessibility Resources college‑wide.

Essential Functions

Daily – 30%: Provides leadership and direction for the Accessibility Resources department, ensuring an accessible and inclusive environment that welcomes students with disabilities. Manages staff, recommends staffing, oversees hiring, termination, discipline, sets performance standards and evaluates staff. Provides direction and training to department staff to ensure high‑level service provision.

Daily – 5%: Establishes short‑ and long‑range strategic planning, program goals, and operating procedures for the department in alignment with College priorities. Conducts ongoing program and service assessment and evaluation to identify and eliminate potential barriers. Works with the department supervisor to maintain and manage the department’s budget.

Daily – 30%: Evaluates and conducts complex analysis of prospective and current students’ psycho‑educational/medical/psychological documentation to verify eligibility for services. Determines reasonable accommodations for qualified students in academic and student services and develops individualized accommodation plans.

Daily – 10%: Coordinates the interpreting/CART schedule for all campuses, ensuring coverage by Broward College or contracted agency interpreters. Provides input on budgeting for interpreting/CART services and tracks charges.

Daily – 10%: Conducts individual interviews and group orientations, providing ongoing case management for registered students who receive accommodations. Maintains confidential student records and compiles program activity reports.

Other – 5%: Provides dispute resolution over accommodations and offers referral services to students in crisis. Attends college‑wide meetings and participates in professional development and committees. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

Five years of experience working with adults with disabilities in an educational institution, plus three years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

In‑depth knowledge of resources, legislation, and technology for supporting disabled students in higher education.

Knowledge of accommodations and issues related to students with disabilities.

Effective communication with students of varied disabilities.

Handling of confidentiality.

Ability to motivate and empower staff.

Expertise in operational plans, budgets, and project management.

Strong negotiation and collaboration skills.

Technical proficiency as required.
