Base pay range $165,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr

The Director of Technical Accounting will oversee the implementation and management of complex accounting policies and standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is critical for driving technical expertise within the accounting and finance department in the oil and gas (natural resources) industry. It will report directly into the International Controller and will involve management of a team.

Responsibilities

Lead the evaluation and implementation of technical accounting policies and procedures.

Provide guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.

Prepare and review technical memos and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Support financial reporting processes to ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the accounting impact of business transactions.

Serve as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters for internal teams.

Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.

Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and their implications for the organization.

Qualifications

A strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards.

Prior experience working in technical accounting for a Big 4 public accounting firm.

Expertise in technical accounting areas such as revenue recognition and lease accounting.

Proven ability to analyze and document complex accounting matters effectively.

Excellent communication skills to work with internal teams and external auditors.

A CPA qualification or equivalent is strongly preferred.

Experience in the energy & natural resources industry is a plus.
