Key Responsibilities

Support recruitment and onboarding processes, including phone screens, interviews, and orientation to ensure smooth integration of new hires.

Provide guidance on benefits administration and act as a resource for employee inquiries.

Assist in planning and executing employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and events.

Maintain accuracy of employee data in HRIS, including audits and reporting.

Participate in special projects, policy updates, and process improvements that align with HR strategy.

Lead and manage complex employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, performance issues, policy violations, and conflict resolution.

Conduct thorough and legally compliant investigations into employee complaints, ensuring impartiality, confidentiality, and proper documentation.

Provide guidance to leaders on California employment law compliance, including wage and hour, meal and rest periods, protected leaves, accommodations, and discrimination protections.

Implement and support HR Department strategies including employee relations, performance management, compensation practices, and full employee life cycle processes, workers compensation, leave of absences and benefit administration.

Coach and counsel managers to ensure accountability, effective performance management, and consistent application of company policies.

Support proactive initiatives that improve workplace culture, reduce risk, and strengthen employee engagement.

Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and HR teams to ensure risk is appropriately assessed and mitigated.

Oversee and maintain documentation for compliance with California requirements (e.g., recordkeeping, leave administration, workplace postings).

Partner with business leaders to foster a culture of fairness, respect, and inclusion while reinforcing company values.

Drive training initiatives for managers and employees on topics such as respectful workplace practices, harassment prevention, and legal compliance.

Submit payroll data accurately and promptly, ensuring timely and correct reporting. Additionally, proactively follow up with management to address any issues until they are resolved.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.

3+ years of experience in HR with a strong focus on employee relations and investigations.

Proven experience handling complex ER cases from intake to resolution, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of California employment law, including wage & hour, CFRA, PDL, paid sick leave, reasonable accommodations, and anti‑discrimination statutes.

Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment.

Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to partner effectively with leaders at all levels.

Experience with HRIS systems (Dayforce preferred) and strong documentation/report writing skills.

Working Conditions

Primarily office‑based with frequent exposure to manufacturing plant environment.

Ability to type a minimum of 60 wpm accurately.

Lifting/carrying of 10‑25 lbs frequently.

Requires sitting (70%), standing (15%), and walking (15%); frequent bending, kneeling, or reaching.

May require occasional climbing of ladders or extended standing during events.
