Brown & Brown’s Risk Solutions team, formerly known as Beecher Carlson, is looking for a Senior Captive Consultant to join the team in Colchester, VT or remotely.
Responsibilities
Strategic Consulting & Client Engagement
Lead feasibility studies for prospective captive clients, including insurance program structuring for all lines of business, financial analysis, domicile evaluation, and structuring complex risk transfer program opportunities.
Direct end-to-end captive insurance company formation and licensure initiatives, including client coordination, regulatory engagement, and drafting captive application & business plan documentation.
Oversee and coordinate comprehensive responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring strategic alignment, competitive positioning, and timely delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
Develop and present tailored captive solutions to clients and prospects.
Advise clients on optimal captive structures and risk financing strategies.
Serve as a subject matter expert on captive insurance for internal and external stakeholders.
Program Development & Management
Coordinate with captive management teams, actuaries, auditors, brokers, and TPAs to support captive formation and ongoing operations.
Monitor performance metrics and conduct trend analysis for captive groups.
Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, client service delivery and first-class deliverables.
Thought Leadership & Innovation
Maintain deep knowledge of global captive trends, regulatory changes across all domiciles, and emerging risk trends and financing strategies.
Contribute to the development of new service offerings and thought leadership content.
Support the growth and professional development of our teammates and actively contribute toward recruiting efforts as we grow.
What You Bring We’re looking for someone who has a deep understanding of financial accounting for insurance companies and combines technical expertise with strategic insight and strong interpersonal skills.
Experience: 5–8+ years in captive insurance industry with focus on audit, tax, consulting, risk management, or related fields.
Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field.
Certifications: CPA or CA strongly preferred; CPCU, ARM, ACI a plus.
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of property and casualty insurance (coverages, market conditions, etc.), captive structures and utilization strategies.
Strong financial, analytical, grammatical and presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver consistent high-quality work.
Excellent organizational, communication and relationship-building abilities.
Commitment to continuous improvement and education.
Pay Range 110,000 - 135,000 Annual
