The opportunity

EY Private Tax is a growing practice focused on serving privately held companies—from family‑owned businesses to private‑equity owned organizations. These high‑growth firms often seek to remain private while experiencing rapid expansion. This role offers a broad portfolio of technical tax planning and compliance projects and the chance to advance to managerial level.

Your Key Responsibilities

Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross‑border compliance.

Provide tax research, drafting of tax memoranda, and quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.

Identify and communicate significant tax matters to managers and senior leaders.

Liaise and develop relationships with other service lines and subject matter professionals.

Build effective long‑term client relationships and tailor services to their unique needs.

Communicate complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.

Maintain and share technical knowledge and best practices.

Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.

Skills And Attributes For Success

A bachelor's degree in a related field with tax, business, or financial planning experience.

Eligibility for the CPA certification or membership in the Bar.

Experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.

Excellent collaboration, negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in professional services or a tax organization.

A commitment to continuous learning.

Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA, or LexisNexis.

Ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment and willingness to travel as needed.

What We Offer You

A comprehensive compensation and benefits package, with base salary ranges from $82,000 to $135,200 (U.S. geographic specific ranges provided).

A hybrid model that expects most client‑serving roles to work together in person 40–60% of the time.

A flexible vacation policy that lets you choose the amount of vacation time you need, with designated paid holidays and other leave options.
