One of our esteemed clients is seeking a controller who does accounting functions while we grow, to oversee financial operations for our real estate development and investment portfolio. This role offers executive-level visibility and the opportunity to directly impact company strategy while ensuring financial rigor across acquisitions, development, and joint ventures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead corporate, project, and JV financial reporting; ensure GAAP compliance and manage audits/tax filings. Oversee project accounting: budgets, draw schedules, AIA reconciliations, and cost tracking. Manage cash flow forecasting, capital management, financing activities, and lender compliance. Deliver financial insights, dashboards, and scenario analyses to senior leadership. Oversee JV reporting, waterfalls, and investor distributions. Strengthen internal controls and improve systems/processes (JD Edwards, Yardi, MRI, Procore). Partner cross-functionally with development, acquisitions, asset management, and investor relations. Qualifications
Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred). 7-10+ years of experience in real estate development/investment accounting. Expertise in GAAP, cost accounting, JV waterfalls, and project accounting systems. Strong financial modeling, Excel, and executive communication skills. Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and proactive leader with a focus on controls and process improvement. Seniority level
