Job Overview
Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.
Schedule:
0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks); shift length 8 hours, primarily day shift with occasional evening/night shifts and a weekend rotation approximately one weekend per month.
Compensation:
$6000 New Hire Sign On Bonus and relocation bonus up to $5000. Responsibilities
Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Anticipating the surgeon’s needs. Following appropriate action in emergency situations. Required Qualifications
Complete one of the following by hire date:
Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date) Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience Additional Required Skills
Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served. Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions. Desired Skills
Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. Ability to work well under a team environment. Benefits
