Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.
As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.
Our Surg techs work as a part of a strong team and their cases include general, dental, ear, nose, and throat, endoscopy, vascular, thoracic, open heart, orthopedics, neurology, bariatrics, solid organ transplant, gynecologic, colo-rectal, urology, plastics, and Da Vinci robotics.
Schedule:
0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours, primarily day shift, with occasional evening/night shifts. This position will also work a weekend rotation of approximately one weekend per month. Salary includes a $6,000 New Hire Sign On Bonus and a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000. The East Bank Campus is a teaching hospital with 24 newly renovated Operating Rooms. Operating Room performs an average of 60 cases per day. We provide innovative surgical suites, including a hybrid suite and intraoperative MRI suites for adult patients. Responsibilities
Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. Ensuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Anticipating the surgeon’s needs. Following appropriate actions in emergency situations. Required Qualifications
Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; Surgical Technologist training. Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers or ability to obtain by hire date. Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program. AST certification or certification eligible at the time of hire. 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience. Other Required Skills
Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of the population served. Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions. Desired Skills
