POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
The Solar Assistant Controller will work under the direction of the Solar Controller and assist with the preparation of financial summary statements, budget reports and internal control systems. The Assistant Controller’s duties also include being a liaison between Corporate Payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivable, reconciling accounts and assisting with financial audits. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and with the highest level of integrity. The Assistant Controller will have exceptional accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP as it relates to the Construction Industry. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and review financial transactions and activities for assigned accounts and departments
Assist with the development and evaluation of budgets and preparing budget reports
Experience reviewing and managing project-level financial reports (WIP, Dashboards, Cash Position & Forecasts)
Support the accounting team with all aspects of the general ledger, specifically reconciling balance sheet accounts, reviewing journal entries and preparing work papers
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
Assist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of inventory, fixed assets, and other financial data
Manage all aspects of Project Lifecycle cost accounting and ensure costs are in the correct period for accurate financial reporting and forecasting
Assist with external/internal audit requests and provide information as requested
Assist and support state tax compliance issues with sales and use tax; coordinate with outside consultants
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations and industry-specific accounting standards and stay up to date with changes in construction accounting standards
Maintain accounting controls and audit documents
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA or CCIFP certification is highly desirable
Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Accounting in the Construction industry preferred
Possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
Previous experience managing or supervising others, preferably on an accounting team
Strong critical thinking, decision making, and analytical skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy
Exceptional communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management
Proficient verbal and written communication skills
Flexible with changing priorities and willing to work as needed to meet deadlines
Organized/initiative-taker capable of working independently and managing multiple deadlines
Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems for financial reporting and analysis
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
