Reporting to Food and Beverage Managers and Director of Food and Beverage

Job Purpose The Food and Beverage Host greets and welcomes guests, seats tables, and maximizes the selling potential of the restaurant area. The Host with The Standard, East Village, will be the first point of contact for guests, so a great attitude and warm, welcoming demeanor is of the utmost importance. The Host is expected to greet & seat guests, answer guest questions, provide beverage service as necessary, and maintain orderly host areas and presentable menus.

Duties & Responsibilities

Greet and welcome guests

Walk and seat guests at tables

Ensure proper customer service is being provided by the team

Ensure that the tables are set up properly & assist with table re-setting

Control and coordinate all tables in designated section

Inform the relevant server of table seating & applicable reservation notes

Give seated guests both food and drinks list

Take the water order and serve as needed

Answer guest inquiries as necessary

Check reservations daily and assign table numbers as needed

Know and monitor the exact flow of areas (Café, Garden, Terrace, Cuna Bar, and Restaurant)

Performs other duties as requested by the manager

Confirm daily reservations by phone and email

Login daily to Resy operating system to confirm and print reservations for servers and the kitchen

Plot tables using Resy platform

Use Resy platform to track diners during meal experience

Qualifications & Requirements

Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures

Comprehension: Fluent in the English language

Organizational Skills: Work efficiently, utilize multi‐tasking, prioritize tasks

Hygiene and Sanitation: Adherence to uniform, grooming, personal hygiene standards, and expectations per SOPs as well as all COVID‑related hygiene protocol

Punctuality: Adherence to posted schedule and arrival time and attendance at mandatory meetings when scheduled

Responsibility: Personal comportment in line with The Standard, New York policies, standards, and expectations

Willingness to learn and adapt

Physical Requirements

Able to move and traverse workspace for a minimum period of 8 hours a day

Periodical bending, kneeling, and stretching

Able to pull, push, carry and lift at least 50 pounds

Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands

Desirable

Multi‑lingual

Previous work experience in a similar area
