Summary of Position: The Grants Manager reports to the Self-Governance/Grants Director and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the full lifecycle of grant activities, supporting Tribal programs by securing funding, ensuring compliance, and maintaining organized documentation. The Grant Manager will lead in a team approach to determine and identify the proper source of funding that will enable the Mohegan Tribe to meet its goals and objectives. The Grants Manager will work collaboratively with the Office of Self-Governance/Grants, Tribal Programs, Tribal Leadership, Tribal membership, granting entities, and other key stakeholders. Understands the history, structure, goals, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the Mohegan Tribe. Identifies Tribal Community and Tribal Program needs, plans, and goals through collaboration and outreach. Coordinate grant development, submission, reports, and closeout activities. Ensure grant process and documentation meet Tribal policies and legal requirements. Maintain accurate records of all grant-related activities, including payment tracking and programmatic outcomes. Oversee the compliance of grants and contracts with funding, Tribal and federal requirements. Provide guidance and support to staff in identifying and pursuing grant opportunities. Lead or assist in grant writing and proposal development in alignment with Tribal and grant entity priorities. Submit and manage grant proposals, ensuring timely and complete applications. Prepare supporting documents and progress reports on behalf of Tribe to granting entities. Monitor grant deliverables, expenditures, and reporting timelines. Optimize grant administration and prepare financial and performance reports in collaboration with Program and Finance. Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and Tribal policies. Training & Technical Assistance Provide technical assistance and training to internal staff on grant applications, management software, reporting procedures, and compliance protocols to ensure effective and consistent grant administration. Be an active member of the National Grants Management Association or equivalent to stay abreast of the latest grant related initiatives. Collaborate with Self-Governance/Grants Director, Programs, Tribal Leadership, external entities, and donors to build relationships and streamline processes. Participate in cross-departmental collaboration for grant management and oversight. File & Database Management Oversee digital and physical grant files, maintain data integrity and accessibility. Oversee the administration of the grants management software system and ensure integrity and accuracy of data entered into the database. Generate reports from databases for management, granting entities, and stakeholders. Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for funding, and areas for improvement. Education, Experience and Training: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, communications, economics, Political Science, Indian Studies, Paralegal or Legal, or closely related field. Seven (7) years of successful professional experience in grant management and/or administration for Tribal Nations, Tribal Organizations, other government agencies, and/or non-profits. Five (5) years of successful professional experience in supervising employees. Proven track record in successfully managing multiple grants.
