Communications Manager – Newburgh, New York

Base pay range: $55,000 - $62,000 per year. Salary commensurate to experience.

Position Overview The Communications Manager at Safe Harbors of the Hudson will shape organization‑wide and program‑specific communications strategies, amplify Safe Harbors’ mission, increase brand visibility, and promote community engagement and support. Reporting to the Director of Development & Communications, the role requires a creative writer, designer, and strategic collaborator with a passion for media and culture.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Storytelling: tell SHOH’s story across multiple communication platforms, develop an understanding of audiences, and ensure equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging are reflected throughout.

Branding & Graphic Design: collaborate with program directors and the Director to design graphics for social media, printed materials, email campaigns, website, and advertising, and maintain clear brand guidelines.

Social Media: develop content and campaigns for existing and new channels, plan content calendar, create imagery and video, monitor interactions, and track performance metrics.

E-blasts: draft engaging e-blast content, schedule and execute campaigns, segment email lists, and analyze performance metrics.

Website: update and maintain website content, troubleshoot issues, and monitor analytics.

Press & Media: prepare press releases, media kits, support outreach and relationship building with the press, track coverage, and coordinate photo/video documentation.

Skills & Qualifications

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.

Creative and analytical thinking with eagerness to generate ideas.

Comfortable receiving and giving constructive feedback.

Proven experience in graphic design, social media, and website management.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and WordPress.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred.

Prior experience or working knowledge of diverse communities in Newburgh and the mid‑Hudson Valley region will be prioritized.

Proficiency in Spanish is a valued asset.

Interest in the arts and non‑profit sector is a plus.
