The Dietetic Technician performs diversified duties in the diet office; e.g. maintains diet records, tallies food requirements and other similar tasks. The Dietetic Technician will demonstrate Barnabas Health's philosophy of Total Quality Management by actively applying that philosophy in all dealings with both internal and external customers. Qualifications
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Basic knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition
Preferred: Graduate of Dietetic Assistant/Technician Program One (1) year food service experience

Essential Functions
Answers telephone taking message and relaying information as necessary Assists in overseeing serving tray line and observes patients choice against diet roster, ensures prescribed diet followed and tray accuracy Assists patients with menus, making all efforts necessary to see that patient receives his/her choice Communicates identified concerns effectively with Assistant Director and/or designee Corrects modified menus at patient bedside and with patient concurrence whenever possible Delivers food carts to the units and monitors accuracy of tray distribution Demonstrates the ability to communicate patient needs to supervisor and clinical dietitian as needed Demonstrates the ability to monitor therapeutic diet accuracy in dining rooms and ensures quality assurance and improvements as needed Documents all pertinent information (i.e. allergies, preferences & processes, snacks and supplements) in the patient's diet file in TDS as needed Inspects patient trays on the trayline for accuracy making sure tray correlates with the menu Inventories and orders nutrition supplements Assures adequate pantry needs on the units Monitors the effects of dietary service through meal rounds Prepares production reports and generates to appropriate area Performs all other duties as assigned
