What are we looking for:

Experience in the Financial Services industry. Gartner is looking for your technology leadership in the financial services industry in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity strategy and governance, board communication, IT risk metrics, regulatory compliance, spending priorities, and strategic risk planning.

A background in vendor selection of risk applications from financial services-specific and cross-industry technology providers.

Demonstrated commitment to staying current with the technology (e.g., AI agents, quantum computing) and business model disruptions (e.g., open finance, real-time payments, agentic commerce) impacting CIOs’ risk initiatives.

What will you do: You will work with a collaborative team of highly experienced Analysts to build authoritative insights that directly address the priorities and challenges of CIO clients aligned to the Financial Services sector.

Serving as an authority on how CIOs plan and execute risk management initiatives in IT.

Delivering strong positions on best and emerging practices for CIOs to manage risk which results in reduced operating losses and positive business results.

Supporting our sales and client service teams in delivering insight to clients and prospects.

Presenting on Financial Services research and related thought leadership in one-to-one and one-to-many forums, including client presentations and Gartner events.

Developing predictions and scenarios about the future of risk technology in Financial Services and the implications and actions for CIOs.

What you will need:

10+ years of relevant field or industry experience in a leadership role, 3 of which in banking technology Subject Matter Expert around:

Financial Services technology and strategies where IT needs to address risk threats

Strong understanding in at least one of the following technology categories: AI, threat detection, identity access management, data security, or endpoint detection

Understanding the business and IT capabilities needed for banks to serve their consumer or corporate customers while maintaining trust and regulatory compliance

Strong passion for learning about and providing insight into new trends and developments in security for banks around the globe

Vendor selection experience is a plus

Excellent English language communication skills – writing experience a plus. Fluency in a second language is also an advantage.

Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges.

Demonstrated success in presenting to C‑suite executives one-to-one and at large and small-scale speaking engagements.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-team settings with other colleagues from the Financial Services practice or other Gartner subject matter experts with different domain coverage.

Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role‑based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
