The
Accountant II
supports financial operations by maintaining accurate ledgers, reconciling complex transactions, preparing financial reports, and assisting with audits and budgets. This role covers a variety of accounting functions including payroll, billing, accounts payable/receivable, taxes, permits, and collections, ensuring compliance with policies and internal controls. Responsibilities of an Accountant II
Maintain the accuracy of general, revenue, and expenditure ledgers; reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies. Prepare journal entries, invoices, and weekly check runs while ensuring timely and accurate payment processing. Compile and analyze financial data to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; support budget preparation and fiscal year-end audits. Coordinate with city departments and external agencies on financial matters; prepare worksheets, schedules, and supporting documentation. Audit accounting systems and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and established policies. Assist the Finance Director with problem solving, special projects, and policy or procedure development. Qualifications of an Accountant II
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting is necessary for the Accountant II. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel. Seniority Level
