Job Description

This position is for a Senior Member of Engineering Staff (SMES) for the Command, Control, and Communications (C3) programs within the C3S Engineering organization. This highly visible role is responsible for leading engineering teams in the proposal, design, development and delivery of next‑generation products for our maritime customers. As an integral part of our fast‑paced environment, the ideal candidate is a key decision maker, leader, mentor and motivator to their engineering teams.

Essential Functions

The Senior Communications Systems Engineer is an ideal position for someone who is a self‑starter that will seize and maintain the initiative in ambiguous situations. The successful candidate will possess a fiercely competitive spirit with a relentless desire to impact and win. S/he has an affinity to challenge the status quo and propose new and innovative solutions to the most complex challenges.

Key Qualifications

Full Systems Engineering Life Cycle experience from baseline concept definition, System Design Review (SDR), through the Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR) as well as System Integration and Engineering Test (SEIT). Understanding of communications and network protocols, appropriate for mission‑critical, near‑real‑time, military applications. Experience developing COTS solutions to develop customer‑centric solutions. Working knowledge of MBSE‑related Digital Engineering activities and implementation in a digital engineering environment (MBSE).

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. At least 6 years of relevant experience. Experience guiding engineering teams in the proposal, design, development, and delivery of complex systems or products, ideally within Command, Control, and Communications (C3) programs. Demonstrated expertise managing projects across the full systems engineering life cycle, from concept definition and System Design Review (SDR) through Preliminary (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR), as well as System Integration and Engineering Test (SEIT). Strong technical knowledge of communications and network protocols relevant to mission‑critical, near‑real‑time, and military applications. Hands‑on experience developing COTS (Commercial Off‑the‑Shelf)-based solutions to meet customer‑centric system requirements. Working knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and familiarity with Digital Engineering practices, including implementation in a digital engineering environment. Track record as a leader, mentor, and motivator within multidisciplinary engineering teams. US Citizenship required. Ability to obtain a US Security clearance is required.

Preferred Additional Skills

Active Security Clearance preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills; works with others to coordinate efforts, resolve cross‑team issues and effectively communicate changes. Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments, exercising strong initiative, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.

Compensation and Benefits

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $90,500 - $140,500.
