College Academic Care Specialist
to manage faculty processes, academic student employment, and shared services oversight. This position plays a central role in ensuring compliance, efficiency, and support across departments in alignment with CSU and SDSU policies. Key Responsibilities
Academic Personnel Management & Faculty Support: Coordinate with department chairs and the Associate Dean to ensure course scheduling aligns with instructional needs, faculty availability, and enrollment demands. Oversee faculty employment processes, workload tracking, retention/tenure/promotion reviews, and personnel actions; ensure policy compliance and coordination with college leadership. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as liaison to central university offices; provide training and guidance to staff and leadership on academic personnel standards and procedures. College Care (Shared Services) Leadership & Oversight: Supervise Academic Care staff; promote shared services culture; implement standardized procedures and coordinate cross-training to enhance service delivery. Academic Student Employment: Manage hiring and onboarding of graduate assistants, ISAs, and TAs; track assignments, support classification compliance, and maintain employment documentation. Data Management, Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Maintain academic personnel data integrity, prepare analytical reports, and identify opportunities for process improvement through data-informed decision-making. Qualifications
University/College and/or public agency experience is highly desirable. Progressively responsible experience in academic personnel, faculty affairs, or higher education administration. Demonstrated knowledge of CSU and SDSU policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements related to faculty and academic student employment preferred. Experience managing academic personnel processes such as faculty recruitment, workload, RTP, evaluations, and sabbatical requests preferred. Proven ability to interpret, apply, and communicate complex policies, regulations, and contractual provisions. Supervisory or team leadership experience within a shared services, academic, or administrative environment. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments, colleges, and central divisions (e.g., Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, Faculty Advancement, and Student Success, Human Resources). Proficiency with academic data management systems (e.g., PeopleSoft (MySDSU), Interfolio, OnBase, or similar HRIS and scheduling systems) preferred. Experience developing and implementing standardized procedures or process improvements across multiple units. High level of professionalism, discretion, and judgment when managing confidential or sensitive information. Compensation & Benefits
CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,274 – $7,684 per month (Step 1 – Step 20). Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 8 (6,069) for highly qualified candidates. Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations. Full Benefits Package Includes
