About the Role The Child Safety and Family Preservation Supervisor supervises a team of child safety program representatives, coordinates state planning and coordination for child safety and family preservation efforts, and advances the upfront child protection response. The position works closely with other DCYF programs, state agencies, community partners, and county and tribal agency directors to implement best practices in child protection.

Responsibilities

Supervise staff to achieve the objectives of the Safety and Family Preservation Unit through the full range of supervisory authority.

Supervise the development, administration, and implementation of policy, procedures, and guidance related to the upfront child protection response.

Participate in planning and priority setting with other policy, program and support system areas across the administration.

Maintain proficiency in child safety and family preservation efforts and stay current with research and emerging programs.

Provide direction and support to advance the mission, vision and values of the Child Safety and Permanency Administration and the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated leadership experience, including at least one year of experience in a supervisory or team lead role and 100+ hours per year of leadership program participation.

Four (4) years of specialized professional work experience in child welfare programs, including strategic planning, staff management, and knowledge of federal, state laws and regulations related to child welfare.

Experience working in partnership with communities and individuals who experience current and historical oppression and systemic bias.

Demonstrated public policy analysis and development sufficient to create and coordinate policy and programs to improve performance outcomes.

Program planning experience sufficient to develop and recommend planning strategies regarding programs, policies, and legislation.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in social work, child welfare, public administration, or related field.

Advanced analytical and written communication skills to interpret and draft policy and research complex policy and program issues.

Strong negotiation, mediation and human relation skills to resolve differences and influence agency priorities.

Ability to comprehend complex inter‑relationships of programs/services and project the implications of decisions on the system as a whole.
