Project Engineer DOQ - CIP role at Manatee County Government, Work That Matters.
Work Location: 1022 26th Ave E, Bradenton, FL 34208
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Starting Salary Range: $71,556.54 - $94,812.41
Responsibilities
Prepares and reviews construction plans, specifications, engineering reports, and cost estimates for projects related to area of assignment.
Performs intermediate to complex engineering design, review, and capital improvement program planning and implementation work, depending on qualifications.
Prepares, signs, and seals documents for outside agencies.
Coordinated preparation, review, and research for development projects to ensure compliance with the Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Code, and county design standards.
Attends pre‑bid conferences. Inspects construction in the field. Estimates project costs, negotiates change orders, and checks and approves contractor payments.
Signs and seals drawings and other pertinent documents.
Provides testimony for public hearings.
Manages day‑to‑day work of technical staff, monitors budgets, and provides leadership and supervision, depending on level.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
Current Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required. Out‑of‑state P.E. licenses must be transferred to Florida within one (1) year of hire date.
Valid Florida driver’s license required within 30 days of hire.
Four (4) or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment (Project Engineer I).
Five (5) or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment (Project Engineer II).
Six (6) or more years of engineering experience related to area of assignment (Sr Project Engineer).
Experience as Engineer of Record desired for all levels.
Preferred certifications: Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) if assigned to RTMC Traffic Signal Timing area of assignment.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, detail‑oriented, ability to resolve complex situations, knowledge of construction planning sets, specification and bid packages, regulatory compliance, computer systems, communication skills, public presentation skills.
