Maintenance Superintendent
East Bay Regional Park District – Pacheco Corp Yard, Operations Division (Public Works Admin #2)
Overview The Maintenance Superintendent leads the planning, execution, and oversight of park infrastructure maintenance and construction programs. Responsibilities include supervising field crews, scheduling maintenance operations, inspecting infrastructure conditions, and coordinating with engineers, contractors, and environmental specialists to meet regulatory and district goals.
Key Responsibilities
Develop program standards and direct maintenance and construction programs for roads, trails, bridges, culverts, and public buildings.
Supervise and evaluate operational staff, including skilled trades employees, contractors, and volunteers.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and district policies.
Plan, schedule, and monitor maintenance work, managing budget priorities and resource allocation.
Coordinate with engineering, environmental specialists, and regulatory agencies to secure permits and approvals.
Analyze data, prepare reports, and present program results to senior management.
Address maintenance emergencies and coordinate dispatch efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, facilities management, or related field.
Four (4) years of full‑time experience in trades, maintenance, and construction; two (2) years at a supervisory level.
Experience in road, trail, and asphalt pavement construction and maintenance.
Strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency in road construction, trail maintenance, culvert replacements, erosion control, and drainage systems.
Knowledge of sustainable practices, soil conservation, and habitat protection.
Valid California Class C driver’s license (initial and continued employment).
AHERA and CAL OSHA certification in building inspection and asbestos management preferred.
Lead‑based paint abatement certification required within the first year.
