Job Overview
Union Tank Car Company, part of Marmon Holdings, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, seeks a Tax Analyst to perform federal, state, and local tax analysis and accounting. The role requires between 3 and 5 years of experience and supports the UTLX and other divisional LLC companies. Responsibilities
Assist in the analysis and payment of federal and state taxes for all ULTX and LLC companies. Prepare monthly federal/state deferred tax provision calculation and journal entries. Prepare quarterly state income/franchise tax estimate/extension payment calculation and remittance. Assist with budget and forecast planning including analysis for all UTLX and LLC companies. Assist with quarterly and year-end federal provision packages for all UTLX and LLC companies. Actively involved in tax audits for all UTLX companies. Prepare for audits by organizing and reviewing documents and assisting external auditor. Provide timely resolution on complex technical tax issues. Guide and inform employees on how to decrease the companies’ tax obligations. Partner with accounting staff to gather and input federal, state and accounting data that drive the tax compliance and accounting cycle up through OneSource Tax Provision and Hyperion Workspace to the Marmon/Berkshire level. Ensure that control and analysis of accounts follow GAAP and internal controls mandated by Berkshire Hathaway and Marmon. Streamline procedures and offer recommendations on how processes can run more efficiently. Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Possess exceptional organizational skills and aptitude for numbers. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently under strict deadlines. Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP principles, ASC740 tax provisions and accounting principles. Advanced Excel skills. Travel approximately two weeks per year. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business required. Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant work experience in corporate tax and/or public accounting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is beneficial. Pay Range
63,000.00 - 77,000.00 Benefits
