General Summary The

HR Generalist

will play a key role in supporting Hamilton Miller & Birthisel human resources functions across multiple offices. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can manage day-to-day HR operations, support employee engagement, and ensure compliance with employment laws and firm policies.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities

Lead full-cycle recruitment for staff and legal professionals

Support onboarding and orientation processes for new hires

Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns

Support conflict resolution and promote a positive workplace culture

Maintain employee records and HRIS systems

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across jurisdictions

Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee communications

Support payroll processing and compensation reviews

Support annual review processes and performance improvement plans

Contribute to HR initiatives such as policy updates, wellness programs, and employee engagement strategies

Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies when handling sensitive information

Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field

3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a professional services or legal environment

Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices

Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; iSolved preferred

PHR or SHRM-CP, preferred

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
