Job Description:
Our client, a prestigious law firm, is seeking a Senior Paralegal (“Senior Case Manager”) to join their Washington, D.C. office. The firm’s litigation practice spans commercial litigation, white‑collar criminal defense, internal investigations, employment and discrimination, and complex regulatory and securities matters. The firm also maintains a pioneering public‑interest practice focused on gender and racial equity, reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, religious freedom, democracy protection, and immigrant rights.
Responsibilities
Serve as the sole litigation case manager or part of a larger team for all stages of litigation.
Manage document production: collecting, processing, producing, and printing materials.
Prepare depositions, conferences, and hearings, compiling documents and logistical details.
Attend and prepare for trials: manage trial exhibits, courtroom documents, remote trial office setup, and vendor coordination.
Conduct substantive factual research, document analysis, interviews, and chronologies.
Organize and maintain case files, overseeing both hard‑copy and electronic management systems.
Collaborate with the eDiscovery and Litigation Support Department using databases and eDiscovery solutions.
Assist in drafting motion papers, correspondence, and other documents including fact‑checking and formatting.
Coordinate with the Managing Clerk’s Office to file court documents, track deadlines, and manage service of documents.
Assist in training and mentoring junior case managers as part of the Case Manager Training Curriculum.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5+ years’ litigation paralegal experience.
Trial experience required.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technology tools.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
Proven ownership of projects, initiative, and ability to work independently and in teams.
Strong organizational and project‑management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Flexibility to work overtime and after hours as needed.
Commitment to confidentiality in handling sensitive firm and client matters.
Passion for civil rights and public‑interest law, with motivation to support the firm’s mission.
The successful candidate will be based in the Washington, D.C. area (or willing to relocate) and available to work 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
