Job Description As an Accounting Advisory Services Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading teams that consult with Grant Thornton accounting advisory clients on complex accounting transactions. You will apply your experience and knowledge to help engagement teams navigate highly technical matters and improve business processes. You’ll build relationships with clients and your project teams, and engage client stakeholders to identify, assess, and deliver substantiated advice. From day one, you’ll be empowered with access to firm leaders and training programs to grow the firm and your career.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Oversee and support multiple engagement teams to complete divestiture solutions, including evaluating carve-out readiness and supporting 100‑day planning.

Support SEC regulatory filings for carve-outs and facilitate the preparation of carve-out financials.

Identify market trends to be a proactive problem solver and sought‑after adviser.

Assist audit teams in evaluating accounting policies related to new, significant, or complex accounting‑related matters.

Train and supervise less experienced colleagues and provide consistent, regular feedback.

Work at a client site or remotely, with flexibility on location and schedule.

Represent Grant Thornton at recruiting and professional networking events.

Build technical and professional skills through formal training.

Meet business development metrics for managed revenue, new sales, and cross‑selling.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Technical Skills

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or related discipline; master’s degree is a plus.

Minimum of twelve years of experience providing financial statement audits, accounting advisory, or similar transaction advisory consulting services with deep experience in the asset management industry.

An active CPA license (required).

Proficiency in US GAAP, SEC reporting rules and standards; accounting, transaction or mergers and acquisition services.

Specialized knowledge in ASC 606 and/or ASC 842, financial instruments, IPO process, or complex debt, equity and employee compensation topics.

Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities.

Experience selling new work and driving revenue.

Strong teamwork, agility and relationship building.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to travel on short notice (travel expectation up to 80%).

Base Salary Range The base salary range for this position in the Firm’s New York, NY office is between $263,300 and $438,800.
