Director of Finance – YMCA of the USA (Ashland Family YMCA)
Location: Medford, OR | Salary: $275,000 – $325,000 | Employment: Full‑time
About the Role We are seeking a strategic finance leader to oversee all aspects of financial management, reporting, and sustainability for the Ashland Family YMCA. The Director of Finance will strengthen financial operations, ensure compliance, and guide long‑term fiscal strategy while collaborating across departments and with external partners.
Responsibilities
Build financial depth and proficiency of the organization’s financial picture, reimbursements, and long‑term sustainability.
Develop, implement, and maintain GAAP standards, internal controls, financial policies, and practices while providing leadership to the Finance team.
Manage all financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, operations, and reporting.
Partner with executive and senior staff to prepare the annual budget.
Analyze organizational, departmental, and program expenses and revenues to support sound decision‑making.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including regulatory, contract, and grant reporting.
Provide financial information and reporting for grant applications, resource allocations, forecasting, and fund management (drawdowns and spenddowns).
Direct annual audits and oversee required filings and organizational reporting.
Review bank deposits, AP checks, wire transfers, and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Monitor bank accounts, investment activities, and maintain line of credit.
Oversee cash flow management and provide semi‑monthly reporting on cash position.
Present recommendations to leadership on short‑ and long‑term financial objectives and policies.
Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with community finance, accounting, banking, and auditing firms, and other vendors.
Ensure Finance staff are aligned with organizational goals and understand their role in supporting operational and strategic plans.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial policies, and internal controls.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, grant reporting, and audit management.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.
Proven leadership experience in financial management, preferably within a nonprofit or mission‑driven organization.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience with CRM (Daxko) preferred but not required.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, grant reporting, and audit management.
