Oracle Government, Defense & Intelligence is seeking a highly skilled
Senior Principal MySQL DBA
to join our elite team, supporting dynamic projects and enabling next‑generation data solutions for our clients.
THIS IS A FULL‑TIME IN‑OFFICE POSITION.
Applicants must currently reside in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. MUST possess and maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
Responsibilities
Lead database design, modeling, and architecture efforts, translating complex customer requirements into scalable, high‑performance MySQL solutions.
Install, configure, and optimize new MySQL servers (versions 5.x and 8.x), ensuring adherence to Oracle and industry best practices.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and tune database systems for peak performance, driving continuous improvements.
Gather and interpret customer requirements for database migration, integration, and administration.
Serve as a trusted advisor across delivery teams, ensuring robust and secure data management practices.
Qualifications (MUST have)
Extensive experience with MySQL database design, modeling, migration, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and tuning.
Hands‑on experience installing and configuring MySQL server environments (5.x and 8.x).
Demonstrated ability to independently execute technical projects and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
COMPTIA Security Plus certification.
Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and analytical skills.
Preferred Experience (Not required)
Experience designing and developing MySQL stored procedures.
Upgrading MySQL database environments (major and minor versions).
Administering MySQL account access, backups, and table spaces.
Managing complex MySQL migrations.
Monitoring MySQL server performance and executing proactive maintenance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
Certain US customer or client‑facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
