What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Research, interpret, and apply local and state building, zoning, and other applicable codes for residential and commercial projects
Lead discovery and requirements-gathering sessions with city stakeholders to guide configuration and implementation
Translate and configure complex building, zoning, fire, and accessibility code provisions into the AI platform
Test, validate, and fine-tune configured regulations to ensure accurate interpretation and application by the AI engine
Collaborate with the Engagement Manager and Onboarding Specialist for successful city implementations
What is Required (Qualifications)
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a building code consultant, plans examiner, or technical designer
Deep knowledge of ICC (IBC, IRC, IEBC, IFC, etc.), zoning, and accessibility codes
Proven ability to translate complex code language into clear, logic-based workflows for software implementation
Strong analytical, interpretive, and technical writing skills for documentation and communication
Excellent communication and facilitation skills to engage with city stakeholders and explain technical details
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience navigating building permitting and plan review processes across multiple jurisdictions
Direct experience in developing jurisdiction-specific code checklists or quality assurance processes
Familiarity with digital plan review and permitting software
Experience configuring or implementing government technology solutions
Enthusiasm for leveraging AI in plan review and code compliance in the public sector
