Job Description The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will support the University of Toledo, University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) by delivering value-added services to management and employees that align with the organization’s business objectives. The role serves as an advisor to leadership, focusing on employee relations, talent development, workforce planning, and ensuring compliance with university and clinical policies.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational guidance on HR initiatives to business leaders.
Advise on employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, and labor relations.
Collaborate with HR leadership and functional teams to enhance employee engagement and workplace culture.
Partner with units to maintain business acumen regarding goals, culture, and operational needs.
Ensure compliance with university and clinical policies and applicable employment laws.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Human Resources, including generalist or business partner roles.
Experience managing complex employee relations issues with tact and discretion.
Experience in fast-growth, fast-paced environments with distributed workforce models.
Proficiency with HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems, and Performance Management Tools.
Strong knowledge of HR policies, practices, and employment laws.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to partner and influence without formal people-management authority.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of compensation, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, performance management, and federal/state employment laws.
Self-starter, initiative-driven, and results-oriented.
High emotional intelligence and conflict-resolution capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or advanced degree.
Certification in HR (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
Project management or change-management certification.
Experience in a university or healthcare setting.
